Wellington - Mount Victoria Lookout

Our second day in Wellington was another lazy day. A late start and then a bus ride through the city and up to Mount Victoria Lookout.

With beautiful views of the harbour and city.

Across the water to the Botanical Gardens where we were yesterday.

It was a little cooler today than yesterday, hence the scarf and coats.

The airport where we landed late on Sunday night.

In the evening we went to Zealandia for a night walk. The park is built around a former city drinking water reservoir and has a specially designed fence that allows native animals such as the kiwi to rebuild numbers whilst keeping introduced predators such as rats and cats out. As we walked into the park the light was fading and equipped with maglites with a special filter we followed our guide around the park for a couple of hours. We saw a kiwi, glowworms, tuatara and kaka. It was a pretty awesome trip!

Wellington - Botanical Gardens

We got the cable car up from Lambton Quay up to the Botanical Gardens.

The view of the harbour.

We followed the Bush walk to start with and then on through the rest of the gardens. It was a beautiful day for a gentle stroll.

Our final stop was the Rose Garden were we were sad that the tea room had closed and there would be no ice cream. We walked back through the Gardens and made the return journey on the cable car.

In the evening we met up with the techy boys and went to Pravda for dinner. Lots of adventurous choices were made with a couple of people trying buffalo steaks and fish we'd never heard of. It was all delicious and beautifully presented.

I couldn't resist a pudding!

Wellington

I'm sharing an apartment with Dame Laura here in Wellington. We have a lounge and kitchen which is great,

and also a balcony with a view of harbour.

Perth - His Majesty's

We have been performing here at His Majesty's Theatre on Hay Street in Perth.

It is a beautiful old building and a really long commute from our hotel.

Well when I say really long I mean you have to cross a road and everything. That's the theatre on the right and the corner of our hotel on the left by the palm tree!

I've got the biggest prompt desk I've ever seen, 2 big monitors with well focussed images so I can see the stage clearly (always a bonus!)

A very dinky cue light system.

We've had an incredible fortnight here. The crew have been a joy to work with, friendly and helpful which is always a bonus especially when we are so far from home. Our next theatres have a lot to live up to!

There is even a resident cricket. He lives by the stairs USL and has evaded capture for a couple of years.

We've left them a reminder of our visit, the drum skin from A Winters Tale signed by all of the company.

Perth - Zoo Days and a Last Hurrah

Our last 1 show day in Perth meant free time to explore.

The Bell Tower. We walked here after breakfast to catch the ferry from the wharf just behind.

The war memorial in Kings Park. I looked at the lights of Perth from here on the barbecue night.

Perth from the ferry.

Personal space!

Some native Auzzies escaping the sun.

A numbat, he was really cool charging about in his enclosure.

Koalas - the star of the show. We had one very happy wardrobe mistress after this stop!

We found somewhere to have a rest : )

A last look at Skippy before we hit the gift shop.

After the zoo we headed for Cottesloe beach again for fish and chips and one last laze in the sun. The beach was busy with kite surfers and people setting up for the Cottesloe to Rottnest Island swim that was taking place the next day.
